Saivo helps you communicate. The rest is up to the kitchen.

What Saivo does
Saivo renders a dietary card in the local language of where you're eating, based on the severity you select (Celiac, Sensitivity, or Preference), the cross-contamination warnings you toggle on, and the hidden gluten sources you want flagged. You then hand the card to a server.
What Saivo doesn't do
- Saivo does not verify food preparation. The app cannot see what happens in the kitchen, what ingredients are used, whether utensils are shared, or whether the server communicates your needs correctly to the kitchen staff.
- Saivo does not provide medical advice. Severity levels (Celiac, Sensitivity, Preference) are framing tools for the card, not diagnoses or treatment recommendations. If you have celiac disease or any food allergy, work with a qualified medical professional.
- Saivo does not verify translations against your specific situation. Translations describe gluten in standard terms but cannot account for regional dishes, local cooking practices, or individual restaurant menus. Use the card as a starting point, not the final word.
- Saivo does not replace your own judgment. Reading the room — whether a server seems confident, whether a kitchen looks well-organized, whether a restaurant has gluten-free experience — is still on you.
Things we recommend
- Read the card to yourself before handing it over so you understand what you're communicating.
- Ask follow-up questions in your shared language if the server seems uncertain.
- When traveling somewhere with a high cross-contamination risk (shared fryers, communal woks, flour-dusted prep surfaces), call ahead or pick a restaurant with documented gluten-free protocols.
- Carry a backup plan — a granola bar from your bag, a known-safe restaurant — for trips where things might not work out.
- If you have celiac disease, carry medical documentation of your diagnosis. Saivo doesn't replace that.
If something goes wrong
If you were served gluten despite using Saivo, we're sorry — that's a terrible experience. Email support@saivo.app and we'll review the translation for accuracy. If we find an error in our card text, we'll fix it in the next update. The communication breakdown between server and kitchen, however, is outside what Saivo can prevent.
